Car Reflection

Spring 2024

Mechanicsburg, PA

Oil paint on wood panel, 4’x4’

This painting was created for an assignment in my Painting II class. The prompt was to create a piece using a reflection from a car. The goal of the piece is to meld abstract with reality and focus on composition, color, texture, lighting. I started with a rough block-in with acrylic paints then refined with oil paints. This panel was the largest I had ever worked on, four feet by four feet, so the assignment stretched my time management skills and forced me to decide what details to emphasize. I finished the piece in a week and a half.
